Modux operate as a boutique consultancy, specialising in information & cyber security, simulation & research.  We deliver specialist consultancy and development services to FTSE 100 and HMG organisations.  Founded in 2009, Modux was set up around the founders core skills of computer simulation, development and information security.

We are looking for an exceptional technical information security professional to join our consultancy team.   The role is based in our central Bristol office, near St Nicholas Market, meaning great food, coffee a fabulous social atmosphere.

Required skills and experience

  • TCP/IP networking (Firewalls / routing, etc)
  • Coding / scripting (Python, Bash, etc)
  • Internet Security
  • Cryptography & Password Cracking
  • Understanding of modern cyber security issues
  • A strong knowledge of at least two of the following areas
    • Network infrastructure security
    • Penetration testing & technical security assessments
    • Web or mobile application development
    • Windows domain or Unix system administration
    • Wireless security
    • Embedded systems development
    • Reverse engineering or malware analysis
    • Incident response

Beneficial skills and experience

  • Previous experience in one of the following areas:
    • Penetration Testing
    • Web application development
    • System administration
    • Technical SOC Analyst (Any level)

What you’ll get

  • Salary £20,000 – 26,000 depending on experience

The job will include travel and work from the Modux Bristol office.

As well as the usual aptitude for breaking and reversing ideally we are looking for experience as an implementer, for example system administration, development or as a SOC analyst.

Must be willing and able to gain UK security clearance.

  • Able to communicate clearly with clients and executives
  • Deep understanding of current cyber security problems
  • Experience performing architecture and end-to-end reviews
  • Solid presentation and training skills
  • Ability to lead as part of a technical team

Required Technical Skills

Application Developer (Bristol, UK)

  • Experience coding in either C#, Python, Django, JavaScript (object-orientated)
  • Experience with SQL / Elastic Search
  • RESTful API development and consumption
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, achieving compromises with other disciplines as required to hit deadlines.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping
  • A very personable and ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Experience with object orientated development
  • Strong track record of work on commercial projects
  • Experience with code versioning (e.g. Git)
  • Willing to work across a range of technologies and languages
  • Understanding of agile development principals
  • Problem solving using code
  • Design Patterns

  • Hands-on experience with Unity3D.
  • Knowledge of full computing stack including networking and system administration
